In many cases, the cause of black tongue is unknown. It is common in smokers and in people whose diets lack fibre; and it sometimes occurs in people who are taking antibiotics.
How is it treated?
A healthy treatment is to suck on a fresh pineapple segment for five minutes twice daily for a week.
