Anyone that suffers with acne (Zits) may feel as if they spend most of their time searching for remedies; treatments however, are slowly improving. The number of people afflicted around the world is huge so science research is making advances; these days, even with serious cases, there are many skin care treatments available.
The type of acne skincare products made from natural ingredients only you might use would come under three general categories:
* Drugstore or Internet: Preventative medication
* Drugstore or Internet: Treatments that do not require a prescription
* Specialized, on-prescription acne products
General or preventative acne products form a large section of the skin care market; these products can be anything from skin cleansers to makeup removers. Many people these days use products like this to maintain their skin; in many instances the user has never had a skin condition to worry about. Other acne skin care products, like skin cleansers for instance, are more specific about their job; devised primarily to limit the amount of oil or sebum forming in the pores. When the pores become clogged with this oil, bacteria which can cause the problem begin to grow.
Skincare Treatments such as exfoliation skin peels, clean the skin and help control the spread of the condition; these are easily obtainable in any drug store. They work by reducing oil plus other contaminants from the skin and in the pores; this can reduce harmful bacteria and stop their chance of growth. Many other acne skincare products made from natural ingredients only have become available over the counter and on the internet; they don’t usually require a prescription. A bacterium that aids the formation of acne is stopped by creams and cleansers that contain benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid; they are designed to extract the excess oil that bacteria need to promote the development of acne.
Generally it is best to start using this type of product with only a small amount of benzoyl peroxide (less than 5.5 percent is recommended), just to see how the skin reacts; an alternative to this includes products which contain alpha hydroxy acid. It is not always possible to find an acne natural product that works first time; however, if finding an effective remedy it is proving to be a problem then consult with your doctor, or skin care specialist. On-prescription treatments are prescribed by a dermatologist and can include ointments that can be applied on the affected area or oral antibiotics or just any topical ointment.
In more serious cases your skin care specialist may decide that a small surgical procedure can be used to remove the oil and infection from your pores; never try to squeeze your zits however, as it can lead to permanent damage of your skin. Another effective course of skin care treatment is hormone therapy; hormonal changes are known to cause acne and such skin care treatments often effective. Constant research has paid off, and whilst they cannot cure the condition, it is becoming easier to treat.
